The BBC continues to air remakes of British classics to this day. Last year alone they remade a few of the more iconic series, including Are You Being Served? and Porridge. But one of the most popular and admired series to ever hit British television, Only Fools and Horses, is yet to see a remake.
Television veteran Sir David Jason is currently starring in the third season of Still Open All Hours and states that his partner, Nick Lyndhurst, has moved onto other things. As a result, Jason’s fans are stuck with the aforementioned show, and a remake of OFAH is all but a distant dream.
Sir David also goes on to explain his view on a remake of Only Fools and Horses: “That would be good, wouldn’t it? We haven’t got a writer, if we had a good writer like the lovely John Sullivan, we would, I tell you.”
Sir David Jason was speaking at the Cirque du Soleil premiere in the Royal Albert Hall this week and stated that he enjoys the remakes of classic shows and how he appreciates that people still enjoy the old styles.
The Only Fools and Horses star also spoke about his views on modern life: “I deliberately decided not to go on Twitter. I’ve read about how much stress it can cause. I don’t think its healthy.” He claims to avoid social media at all costs and that he has only sent two texts in his life. When asked about making a biopic of his life, he joked that it would be a good idea, especially if Tom Cruise had the lead role.
