Did you know that Uncle Albert had a reputation for being a bit of a ladies man in his younger days? In a number if different epislodes we learn that he had a certain affection for women (including those “hot stuff” Russian girls).
And it has also been revealed through a deleted scene that Albert got another woman – not his wife Ada – pregnant.
The scene was cut from the episode Modern Men, in which Cassandra loses her baby.
Referring to what happened to Cassandra, Uncle Albert informs Del that the same terrible thing happened to him while he was married to “Aunt Ada”. Del asks Albert why he has never mentioned this before (wondering if the stress of the situation caused him and Ada to split).
However, Albert responds by saying “No son. But it would have been if she had found out about it!” and goes on to explain that the woman in requestion was someone he met in Honolulu.
What a dirty old goat!
No reason has ever been given for why this scene was deleted. It may have been due to time constraints, or because it was considered too insensitive in light of the serious undertones of the episode.
